BCA Section J: Building Code of Australia Volume one provides energy efficiency requirements for class 3 to 9 buildings in Section J, Energy Efficiency. For residential buildings a NatHERS rating with a minimum star rating is normally considered compliance with the energy efficiency requirements of BCA volume two and in NSW, BASIX governs these regulations instead of BCA. For non residential buildings a BCA Section J report needs to be compiled in order to show building's compliance with the requirements of the BCA Section J, Energy Efficiency.
While there is no standard format for compilation of a BCA Section J report, in Eco Engineering ® we have developed our own standards for compilation of the BCA Section J report based on our accumulative staff experience and our ever increasing portfolio of sustainability studies and projects. You can review the outlines of the format we use for our reports by visiting our BCA Section J report page. We also follow a monolithic and stringent procedure for our compilation of the report which can be reviewed by visiting our BCA Section J assessment page.
ABCB will increase the energy efficiency requirements of both residential and non-residential buildings from 2010. In 2010 BCA Section J will introduce significant increases to energy efficiency measures already in BCA volume one and will increase the NatHERS rating of residential development to 6 star in BCA volume two.
